Microsoft Authentication is not available - Due to a file server upgrade to Windows 2000 a slight issue with Macintosh sharing has emerged. The problem is that the user can only authenticate via clear text passwords. This field is only 8 characters in length, rendering accounts with longer passwords inaccessible. According to Microsoft, this will occur on clients using AppleShare 3.7x or less. Instructions to resolve this issue can be found here.

UITS recommends stopping with 7.5.1 for 68030 Macs and 7.5.5 for 68040 Macs; later OS versions run significantly slower on 68K Macs.

Macs using MacTCP should be using at least v 2.0.4

IUB-CHEM domain users can obtain the most recent MacTCP and Open Transport updates from http://www.nac.net/ftp/mac.htm. The last version is 2.0.6.
